A glamorous range of glass and timber veneer lounge and dining furniture by Dare Global Australia will have its launch at Furnitex.

Also new from the Adelaide company that serves Australia, New Zealand and the United States, will be a series of contemporary leather sofas in response to demand.

“Our fabric couches have proved popular, but many clients have asked for leather,” says director Ruby Chan, who also heads design.

Behind the firm established in 2004 as a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Dare Global Furniture, is a success story that underscores the powerful links between Australia and China.

“We manufacture at our factory in Shenzhen, which produces prototypes of our designs, but there’s also creative and engineering input at the China end,” notes Hong Kong-born Ruby.

“Our furniture is specifically designed for the Australasian and US markets – quite unsuitable for China, where most people live in apartments and need small-scale pieces.

“We do a lot of market research and concentrate on quality furniture at very competitive prices.

“Best-sellers? Our coffee and side-tables are in continuous demand and there’s little competition for our bookshelves. We sell stacks of them!”
