Lounge Innovation: Fashion-forward finesse

2 May 2021

Every dedicated fashionista is aware of the palette for Spring-Summer 2011/12. Tanya Menna is equally familiar with the colours that will dominate trendy clothes next season.

“Lots of lime, aubergine, yellow and terracotta,” says the wife and right-hand woman of Lounge Innovation’s founder and chief designer, Tony Menna. “We’re using them for our new range and mixing and matching them with basic tones like cool grey, which is the new black.

“Mostly, the fashion colours will be used as contrast features, though they’ll get big play on accent pieces such as occasional chairs, ottomans and scatter cushions – perfect for that wow factor.

“Prints are bold – lots of stripes and swirls – though there’s also a strong retro mood, with patterns including medallions and the fleur de lis.”

Established in 1991, the multi-award winning company which boasts a 10,000 sq m state of the art plant in Bassendean, WA, and exports internationally, is driven by the vision of Tony Menna, who rose from apprentice upholsterer and today heads an expert team of designers and craftspeople.

Each season sees the release of a collection that reflects the latest international trends in leather and fabric contemporary lounge furniture. “Tony does the travelling – all the key design centres including Milan,” says Tanya, who is national sales manager.

Lounge Innovation’s overseas presence has just got stronger: a new retail showroom in the spectacular Dubai Mall.
