Theodores Australia: Superior fundamentals

15 July 2021

Melbourne furniture maker and upholsterer Theodore Terzakis combined his skills with sharp business acumen when he founded Theodores Australia in the mid-90s.

Everyone needed dining tables and chairs; the market could do with superior ones that satisfied both conservative and trends-conscious tastes, he decided.

More than a decade on, the award-winning firm is renowned Australia-wide for its finely crafted classic and contemporary dining furniture – all designed and made by an expert team at Theo’s factory/showroom in East Brunswick.

“We use best-quality hardwoods – mainly Victorian Ash – and pride ourselves on the comfort and durability of our products,” he says. “We offer a very wide choice of styles, fabrics and timber stains, and everything is built to last.”

Adding to Theodores’ latest ranges on display at Furnitex, is a formidable catalogue that runs the gamut from classics such as the regency striped Zander chair to the cutting edge Arrow chair with its sleek, geometric lines and modern European appeal.

“Whatever its style, a Theodores chair, carver or stool comes with premium frame structure and seating,” says the master craftsman whose elegant tables feature the same fastidious attention to detail.

One reason for their popularity is obvious: they can be ordered at any size required.
