VIVID 2011 Winners Announced

The most hotly anticipated feature of the fair and Australia’s longest running industry design competition, vivid 2011 surprised with colour and a most inspirational product range.  48 designers vied with 88 new and innovative products for four prestigious Excellence in Design Awards. Winners of the 2011 awards are:

for the best new release 

 

Anastasia Tubert & Campbell Yule | Mule Design | VIC 

IDA Table | a well considered, well finished product with great individual form, all slightly different, and most importantly, made from sustainable materials | further short-listed DAY ROCKER by the same designer, THE KAH-DU Collection by Ilan El, CANDY Light by Sebastian Clarke and STRIP Table by Vault Industrial Design

for the best new prototype 

 

Sebastian Clarke | VIC 

2KILOWATTS Light | a unique re-use of an existing material that otherwise would have gone to landfill, great concept with scope for refinement, excellent commercial potential | further short-listed MANTARAY Coffee Table and STAMBRE by Alexander Arias Reques, and MATADOR Chair by Nicholas Kelly

 

vivid 2011 Student Award

for the best new student work 

Adam Lynch | RMIT | VIC 

SCISSORS Bedside Table | a beautifully designed and finished product, very clean-cut design, visually pleasing from all angles, and with great attention to detailing and mass market appeal | short-listed were also FLATPACK Cafe Seating by the same designer, POP Chandelier by Asor Adudu [Central Institute of Technology], and CONTOUR Lounge by Daniel Mazic [UTS]

vivid 2011 Green Award

for the most sustainable product across all entries 

 

Dale Hardiman | RMIT | VIC 

KIDS Straw Stool | a very innovative product with lots of potential, ultimately sustainable and with great look and appeal | short-listed were also TANGENT Box by Ash Allen, and AUSTIN Bench by Rich Austin
